Chef and co owner India Doris received the MICHELIN Guide Northeast Cities 2025 Young Chef Award, given for her cooking at Markette. She trained across London, France and Spain and came to Chelsea from SAGA, where she was sous chef, and her menu draws Caribbean flavor through European technique.
Markette was added to the MICHELIN Guide New York in October 2025, three months after opening. The dining room, designed by Fogarty Finger, was built around burnt orange banquettes, Murano glass chandeliers, hand painted murals and a fireplace, and opened on Seventh Avenue in July 2025 as the first restaurant from India Doris and co owner Alex Pfaffenbach, who met while working together at The NoMad.
Below you will find press, reviews and media coverage of the kitchen, the room and the food.
